Nach den Niagarafällen gings mit dem Zug nach New York City - entlang des Hudson Rivers und einer wunderschönen Landschaft! Wir wurden dafür schon früh morgens um ca. 3 Uhr abgeholt, da unser Zug um 03:40 Uhr fahren sollte. Das Aufstehen war echt hart! Wir hatten vielleicht 3 Stunden Schlaf bekommen.....

Der Taxifahrer, der uns zum Bahnhof brachte, hat uns ganz schön übers Ohr gehauen .... Wir hatten den Vorabend extra an der Rezeption nachgefragt, was ein Taxi zum Bahnhof kostet und ob das Hotel uns ein Taxi bestellen könnte. Da hiess es, es kostet ca. 15 Dollar! Bezahlt haben wir im Endeffekt 40 Dollar! Der Typ hatte nicht mal ein Taximeter laufen! Man soll doch annehmen, dass ein Taxi, dass vom Hotel bestellt wird seriös ist, oder? Naja... was solls!

From the Niagara Falls we took the train to New York City - along the Hudson River and a wonderful landscape! We have been picked up already at 3 o'clock in the morning because our train started at 03:40! To wake up this time was really hard! we slept maybe 3 hours....
The taxidriver who brought us to the station diddled us a lot! We asked already the evening before at the reception of our hotel what a taxi to the station costs. They said us like 15 dollars! We paid 40 dollars! There was even no taximeter counting! Normally you can expect a serious taxi which was ordered from the hotel, can't you? Don't mind!

Den Zug hatten wir schnell gefunden, da er in Niagara Falls startete. Der Schaffner hat uns geholfen, das Gepäck in den Zug zu laden und dann hatten wir freie Platzwahl! Denn viele Passagiere gab's noch nicht :) Den Grossteil der Fahrt haben wir geschlafen.... Irgendwo muss man ja auch seine fehlenden Schlafstunden wieder nachholen :D Den Rest der Fahrt haben wir die Landschaft draussen genossen. Wir sind die 2. Hälfte nur noch am Hudson River entlang gefahren. Das war total schön! :)

Gegen Mittag kamen wir dann voller Erwartung an der Penn Station mitten in New York City an! Es war ein riesen Getummel mit Einheimischen und Touristen! Nach einem kurzen Check, wohin wir müssen, ging's dann zum Hotel. Ein paar Blocks weiter war es dann auch schon. Das Hotel Carter in der 43. Strasse - 50 Meter vom Times Square weg! Eigentlich eine tolle Lage! ABER....

We found the train very fast, because he started in Niagara Falls. The conductor helped us with our baggage and we could chose our seats for free... many passengers haven't been there that time :) The biggest part of the ride we slept ... to catch up the missing night. :D The rest of the ride we enjoyed the landscape. The second half of the ride was along the Hudson River. Very beautiful! :)
Around midday we arrived with great expectations at the Penn Station in New York City! It was a great turmoil with inhabitants and tourists! A short check where we had to go and we were walking to our hotel a few blocks further. Hotel Carter in the 43rd street - 50 meters away from the Times Square! Actually a good location! BUT ...

Wer einmal in seinem Leben wie Peter Parker in New York wohnen möchte, muss unbedingt das Carter Hotel buchen (das sagt hoffentlich schon alles!)! Wer den Typ aus Spiderman doch nicht kennt oder zumindest nicht weiss, wie er gewohnt hat, hier eine Kurzbeschreibung von unserem Hotelzimmer, was auch ungefähr der Wohnung von Peter Parker entspricht: sehr klein und man kann kaum seine Koffer unterbringen, absolut verdreckter Teppichboden (!) mit vielen schwarzen undefinierbaren Flecken, heruntergekommene Möbel, einem Bad ohne Licht (besonders toll, wenn man ja abends im Dunkeln vorm Bettgehen noch duschen will) und ohne Sichtschutz am Fenster, ohne Zimmerservice (wer sein Handtuch auf den Boden legt in der Hoffnung am nächsten Tag ein frisches vorzufinden oder gar ein gemachtes Bett erwartet, der wird bitter enttäuscht sein!)...

Das einzig Gute an dem Hotel war wirklich die Lage... und wer weiss, wenn man den doppelten Preis zahlt, bekommt man ja vielleicht auch ein schöneres Zimmer (oder den doppelten Ärger)!

Who wanna live once in his life in New York like Peter Parker, must take a room in the Carter (this says everything hopefully!)! Who doesn't know this man from the movie Spiderman or at least doesn't know how he was living, here a short description of our hotel room (which conforms to Peter Parkers flat): very small, you don't know whereto the baggage, absolutely cruddy carpet (!) with many undefinable black spots, bedraggled furnishing, a bathroom without light (good if you wanna take a shower in the dark before going to be) and without blind at the window, and without room service (who puts the towel on the floor with hope to get a new one the next day, or who expects a fresh made bed, will be disappointed bitterly!)... The only good thing of this hotel was the location ... and who knows, if you pay the double price, maybe you get a better room (or the double trouble)! :D

New York ist groß ... sehr groß ... :-) Aber eine tolle pulsierende Metropole, in der niemals die Lichter ausgehen. Hier kann man selbst nachts noch shoppen gehen :-)

Die letzten beiden Tage haben wir die zahlreichen Facetten von Manhattan kennengelernt. 

Gleich nach der Erkundung unseres Hotels, haben wir eine tolle Stadtrundfahrt inklusive Bootsfahrt gemacht.

New York is big ... very big ... :) But an awesome pulsating metropolis, in which lights never turn off. Here you can even go shopping during the night :)

The last 2 days we've seen a lot facets of Manhattan. After explorating our hotel we made a big city trip with a bus inklusive a boat tour.

Chinatown, Little Italy, Broadway, 5th Avenue etc. gabs natürlich auch die Freiheitsstatue von einer Bootsfahrt aus zu sehen... das volle Programm!

Danach hatten wir einen vollen Tag zur freien Gestaltung! Wir sind mit der Metro gefahren, haben die Staten Island Fähre ausprobiert ...

Afterwards we had a ful day for free! We made a ride with the metro, tried the Staten Island Ferry ...

und uns die Freiheitsstatue im Sonnenuntergang angeschaut,

watched the statue of liberty during sunset,
 

 

haben uns mit tausenden Menschen nachts am Times Square aufgehalten

spent time at the Time Square in the nigth with other thousands of people

und die vielen bunten Leuchtreklametafeln bewundert, sind nachts auf das Empire State Building

admired the various colorful illuminated advertising, have been on the Empire State Building in the nigth

 

und tagsüber auf das Rockefeller Center, um die tolle Skyline Manhattans zu bestaunen,

and on the Rockefeller Center in the day to gaze the great skyline of Manhattan,

 

haben uns die Dinos im Museum for Natural History angeschaut (bekannt aus dem Film "Nachts im Museum"),

saw the dinosaurs in the Museum for Natural History (famous from the movie "Night at the museum"),

 

sind kilometerweit über die 5th Avenue und den Broadway geschlendert, haben uns die Börse an der Wall Street angeschaut, haben die vielen Menschen im Central Park beobachtet, haben den einen oder anderen Penner gesehen, haben uns die Bäuche bei Kentucky Fried Chicken voll gehauen und natürlich auch ein bisschen geshoppt - klar, wenn man schonmal in New York ist. :)

walked kilometers over the 5th Avenue and the Broadway, took a look at the stock exchange in the Wall Street, observed many people in the Central Parc, saw  the one or other bummer, ate us fill at Kentucky Fried Chicken and off course we shopped a bit - sure if we are in New York! :)

 

  

 

Kurzum, New York ist cool und rockt :-)  und ist auf jedenfall irgendwann mal noch einen 2. Besuch wert!

In short New York is cool and rocks :) and it is worth a 2nd visit!
