The moving is done! Finally!
Alle Wände sind gestrichen, alle Möbel stehen, beinah alle Bilder hängen an der Wand! Jetzt kommt endlich die Zeit des Geniessens :) Endlich eine Zeit, in der man nicht jeden Abend mehr irgendwelche Kleinigkeiten macht, so wie Gardinen kürzen, Bilder aufhängen und so :D
All walls are colored, all furniture is in the right place, almost every picture hangs at the wall! Now the time of enjoying comes :) Finally a time where I don't need to do something small every evening, like shorten curtains, hanging pictures at the wall and so on :D
Aber mal von vorne: Am 31. Juli ist Eliane, meine neue Mitbewohnerin und Freundin über eine Mail von einer anderen Freundin auf eine Facebook-Anzeige gestolpert, in der eine Wohnung angeboten wurde. Man musste aber noch am selben Tag reagieren. Also rufe ich an und mache direkt einen Besichtigungstermin. Schon als ich die Adresse hörte, dachte ich noch, uuuhhh das ist ja nicht grad in unserem bevorzugten Stadtteil... Ob das was ist? Aber der Rest hörte sich super an, 2 grosse Schlafzimmer, 1 Wohnzimmer, Küche, Bad und ein unschlagbarer Preis (man erinnere sich bitte an meinen letzten Post zur Wohnungssuche!)..... ich also dahin.
But from the beginning: July 31st my friend and new roommate Eliane got an announcment for an appartment in an email in facebook from a friend of her. We had to react the same day! So I called and made an appointment to see that appartment the same day. As I heard the address I already thought, uuuhhh that's not in our favorite district .... if this is good? But the rest sounded great, 2 big sleeping rooms, 1 living room, kitchen, bathrooom and an unbeatable price (you remember my last blog over the search of flats in Utrecht please!) .... I was going to this appartment.
Mein erster Eindruck vom Gebäude war nur...oje..... was für ein hässlicher grosser Bunker :D Das Haus hat 7 Etagen und weiss nicht wieviele Wohnungen. Aber positiv war die Lage am Rand des ungeliebten Stadtteils. Wir müssten also nie durchradeln und es liegt direkt am Bahnhof Overvecht, also sehr günstig von der Anbindung, weil Zug und Bus gleich um die Ecke sind. Muss nur noch getestet werden, ob man die Züge von drinnen hört.
My first impression of the building was just ... oje .... what an ugly big bunker :D The building has 7 floors and I don't know how many flats. But positive was the location marginal of this not popular district. We don't need to cycle through and it is directly at the station Overvecht, very conviently located to transport connections like trains and busses. We just need to test if we can hear the trains in the appartment.
Drinnen erwartete mich auch schon das Mädel, die bis dato die Wohnung gemietet hat und mir jetzt einen Rundgang gab. Die Wohnung war sehr geräumig und schön hell, eigentlich ideal für uns. Nur die Küche bereitete mir etwas Sorgen, sie sah doch etwas alt aus, hatte nur eine Gaskochplatte ohne Ofen und keinen Kühlschrank. Die Waschmaschine konnten wir zu dem Zeitpunkt noch übernehmen. Aber gut, da lässt sich ja Abhilfe schaffen :) Eins der Zimmer war etwas dunkel und auch ziemlich runter gekommen.... insgesamt müsste noch sehr viel getan werden, aber immerhin bleibt der Fussboden drin, ein schönes braunes Laminat.
The girl who lived in the flat until now was already waiting for me. She gave me a tour. The appartment was very spacious and light, actually ideal for us. Just the kitchen distressed me. It was very old looking, just had a small gas stove without oven and there was no fridge. The washing mashine we could get at that time. But well, here we will find a remedy. :) One of the rooms has been very dark and was also very battered ... in total we would have to do a lot, but at least the ground floor will stay inside, a nice brown laminate.
Ich rufe Eliane an, spreche das mit ihr ab, schicke ihr noch ein paar Fotos und ruckzuck war zugesagt, dass wir die Wohnung nehmen. :) Erst mit dem Hintergedanken, dass wir sie, da sie billig ist, erstmal nur für den Übergang nehmen und weiter suchen.
I called Eliane to tell her about the flat, sended her some pictures and in no time we accepted :) First just with the hidden agenda that we just take it for a transition time because it is cheap and we will search further.
Ein paar Tage später unterschreibe ich bei der Wohnungsvereinigung den Mietvertrag, kriege noch ein paar Bedingungen vorgelesen, was die Wohnung betrifft und kann mich zusammen mit Eliane schon mental darauf vorbereiten, dass wir schon Ende August umziehen konnten. Eliane war noch im Urlaub und kam erst eine Woche vorm Umzug wieder nach Hause.
A few days later I signed the rental contract at the housing corporation, got to read a few terms and conditions about the flat and we could already prepare ourselves that we will move end of august. Eliane has been still on vacation and will not arrive home again till one week before the moving.
In der Woche vorm Umzug bekamen wir dann auch endlich unsere Schlüssel und konnten loslegen mit den Renovierungsarbeiten.... denn ganz so konnten wir die Wohnung leider nicht lassen zum Einziehen. Dann hätten wir uns nicht wohl gefühlt :) In der Zwischenzeit hatten wir uns auch schon darauf geeinigt, wer welches Zimmer bekommt und jeder hat schonmal auf Papier ein bisserl eingerichtet :)
The week before the moving we finally got our keys and we could start to renovate .... because we couldn't let that appartment like it was to move in. Then we wouldn't feel good :) In the meantime we already came to a compromise who will get which room and everyone could furnish their room on a papersheet. :)
Ich kann nur sagen, wir haben echt viel getan. Eliane hatte noch frei und war wirklich beinah die ganzen Tage von morgens bis abends in der Wohnung und hat gearbeitet. Ich bin dann immer erst abends nach der Arbeit dazu gekommen. Aber wir haben wirklich alles gestrichen: Die Zimmerwände und -decken, den ganzen Flur, die Küche, das Klo, das Wohnzimmer .... wirklich alles! Je mehr gestrichen war, desto schöner und wohnlicher wurde das Ganze :) Danach gings ans Putzen und auch das war teils kein Zuckerschlecken.... allein Küche und Bad waren ja kaum nutzbar! Aber nachdem die Küche sauber und frisch gestrichen war, sah sie auch gleich viel besser aus... nicht mehr so alt und versifft :) Achja, hier haben wir nun auch erfahren, dass die Waschmaschine leider nicht in der Wohnung bleibt. Da brauchen wir also auch was neues.
I just can tell that we did a lot! Eliane still had free time and she was almost every day from morning to evening in our new flat to work there. I always joined the evenings after work. But we painted really everything: All walls and ceilings in the sleeping rooms, the whole corridor, the kitchen, the toilet, the living room .... really everything! The more we painted the more beautiful and homelike it got :) Afterwards we had to clean everything and that was no bed of roses ... only kitchen and bathroom almost haven't been usable at all! But upon finishing the kitchen it looked very nice ... not so old and raunchy anymore :) And now we got the message that the washing mashine won't stay in this appartment. So we need a new one too.
Einen Tag vorm Umzug war dann noch der Termin fürs Übergabeprotokoll und selbst das Mädel, die die Wohnung davor hatte, hat gestaunt, was sich doch alles getan hat. Abends habe ich dann noch zusammen mit Eliane ein Auto voll gepackt mit Sachen von mir, die ich anschliessend direkt in die neue Wohnung brachte. Ein zweites Auto voll hab ich dann nachts noch vor meine Tür gestellt und den nächsten Morgen direkt in die neue Wohnung gebracht. Glücklicherweise durfte ich den Firmenwagen meines Chefs benutzen und so sparten wir uns doch eine Menge Geld für den Mietwagen. Samstag morgen den 24.08. ging es dann los. Morgens haben wir noch die letzten Sachen aufgeräumt und für die kommenden Möbel vorbereitet. Danach trafen wir uns bei mir vor der Wohnung und fingen schonmal an, alles, was sich noch im Zimmer befand raus zu tragen. Freunde kamen nach und nach und haben geholfen. Dann wurde aufgeteilt. Ein Teil fuhr mit Eliane zu ihrer alten Wohnung, ein Teil direkt zur neuen Wohnung. Dort wurde dann alles ausgeladen und ich bin mit dem Auto zu Eliane. Dort passte dann Gott sei Dank auch alles in den Firmenwagen plus ein Auto eines Freundes (Danke noch an dich, Uli! Ohne dein Auto hätten wir hier 2x fahren müssen! ;) ). Ruckzuck war der Kram dann auch in der neuen Wohnung ausgeladen. Nach nur ca. 3 Stunden war der Umzug von 2 verschiedenen Adressen an eine gemeinsame Adresse getan! Rekord finde ich :) Danke hier nochmal an alle Helfer! Eine Housewarming Party für euch folgt noch!
The day before moving we made a handover certificate with the caretaker of the house and even the girl who was living in this flat before was astonished what we have done. In the evening Eliane and I packed a car full with stuff of mine which I brought to the new flat directly. A second full car I parked in front of my door the night and brought it to the new flat the next morning. Fortunately I could use the company car of my boss and we could save some money. Saturday august 24th in the morning we started. We cleaned up the rest in the new flat and prepared everything for the new furniture. Then we met in front of my flat and started to remove everything from my room. Friends were coming step by step and helped us. Then we parted us. A part went to Eliane's appartment, another part to our new flat. At the new flat we unpacked the car and I drove to Eliane's appartment. Luckily everything of Eliane's stuff fitted in this and a friend's car (Thanks at this point to you, Uli! Without your car we had to drive twice! ;) ). In no time the stuff has been in the new flat. After only 3 hours the moving from 2 different appartments to just one common flat was done! Record I think :) Thanks to all helpers! A housewarming party is still following for you!
Aber dann kam noch ein schwieriger Teil.... nämlich unser Mordseinkauf bei IKEA! Ich hatte schon Bedenken, ob das alles überhaupt ins Auto passt, aber es musste irgendwie :D Wir haben erst jeder einen Karren genommen und voll gepackt bis oben hin.... und stellten fest, dass noch ein kompletter Kleiderschrank mit mehreren Kartons fehlte. Hier hatten wir schon unsere Zweifel, ob das alles so ins Auto passt.... die 4 Karren sahen schon massig viel aus! Also zahlten wir erstmal und brachten den Kram ins Auto. Und nachdem die ersten wirklich grossen Teile drinnen waren, entschieden wir uns dafür, doch noch den Schrank zu holen.... Die arme Eliane musste mit dem Rest am Auto warten. Aber das restliche einpacken ging dann schnell von statten :D
But then another difficult part came to us ..... our monster shop at IKEA! I had doubts if everything will fit in the car but it had to :D First everyone of us took one cart and packed them full .... then we realized that there is still a whole cupboard with several boxes missing. Here we really had doubts if everything will fit in the car .... the 4 carts were looking massive! So we paid first and brought the stuff to the car. And after loading the first big parts we decided to get the missing cupboard after all.... poor Eliane had to wait at the car with the rest. But loading the rest was done very fast :D
Auf der Heimfahrt mussten wir seeehhhrrrr langsam fahren.... die Tür war nicht ganz zu, weil die Sachen einfach zu lang waren und durch das Gewicht war das Auto an der Hinterseite doch etwas zusammen gesackt. Aber mit etwas mehr Zeit kam alles heile in der neuen Wohnung an :D
On the way back home we had to drive veeeeeryyyy slowly .... the backdoor wasn't closed at all because the boxes had been too long and because of the weight of the stuff the car was a little bit pushed down athe back. But with a little bit more time we arrived safe at home :D
Die zwei Jungs, die uns noch geholfen haben, haben wir an dieser Stelle verabschiedet, DANKE GEORGE und ULI!!! Ihr habt uns krass geholfen und viiieeeel Geduld bei IKEA gehabt ;)
The two guys who helped us said good buy at that point, THANKS GEORGE and ULI!!! You were helping us really phat and you had a lot of patience at IKEA ;)
Danach gings ans auspacken und aufbauen. Jeder von uns war in seinem Zimmer beschäftigt und hat probiert, zumindest für die Nacht alles fertig zu machen. Ich habe an dem Abend noch geschlagene 3 Stunden an dem Bett gebaut! Aber danach stand es und ich war müde :D Sonntag war ebenfalls Aufbautag, es gab ja noch genug Schränke, die aufgebaut werden mussten. Am Nachmittag allerdings sind wir noch in einem Secondhand für Grosselektrogeräte gewesen und habe uns eine gebrauchte Waschmaschine gekauft. Die wurde dann auch prompt den nächsten Tag schon angeliefert. Eliane hat in der Zwischenzeit einen Kühlschrank in der Schweiz organisiert, der dann Ende September kommen soll. In der Zwischenzeit nutzen wir einen kleinen Campingkühlschrank. Es war auf jedenfall ein sehr arbeitsreiches Wochenende.
Afterwards we started to unpack and build our stuff. Everyone was busy in their room and tried at least to prepare everything for the night. I build up my bed in solid 3 hours that evening! But afterwards it was ready and I was tired :D Sunday was a bulding up day too, there were enough cupboards needed to be built up. In the afternoon we went to a second hand shop for electric stuff and bougth a used washing mashine which was delivered the next day already. Eliane organized a fridge from Switzerland which will arrive end of september. In the meantime we used a small camping fridge. it was a busy weekend.
Im Laufe der nächsten 2 Wochen haben wir abends immer noch mit Kleinigkeiten zu tun. Kleinere Sachen werden noch aufgebaut, erste Fotos an die Wände gehangen.... dekorieren halt :) Was Frauen ja gerne machen ;) Ausserdem haben wir tolle Stühle und einen tollen Esstisch gefunden, Eliane hat im Kringloopwinkel noch eine schöne Gasherd-Ofen-Kombi gefunden und unser ganzer Papiermüll (IKEA-Verpackungen!) aufm Balkon verschwand nach und nach. Damit hat man ja auch kräftig zu kämpfen danach... und das war echt nicht wenig! Unser Balkon war bis hoch zur Brüstung voll mit Kartons! Das Bad wurde in der Zeit auch noch mit einer Anti-Schimmel-Farbe gestrichen, damits wieder in weiss glänzt und andere Kleinigkeiten eben :)
In the course of the next 2 weeks we did a lot of small things in the evenings. Smaller stuff was built up, first pictures were hanged at the walls ... decorating... :) what women love to do ;) Besides we found great chairs and a dining table, Eliane found a nice big stove in the Kringloopwinkel and all of our papertrash (IKEA boxes) vanished from our balcony step by step. With this stuff you must figth at the end .... it wasn't little! Our balcony was full with empty boxes up to the top of the balustrade! The bathroom we painted with an anti-fungi color to let it shine in white again and other small stuff. :)
Und dann kam auch endlich das Wochenende, wo Elianes Bruder mit einem Freund vorbei kam, um den ersehnten Kühlschrank und auch einige ersehnten Sachen von Eliane zu bringen :) Der Rest der Bilder wurde an die Wände gehangen und Eliane bekam den Rest ihrer Möbel. Endlich war die Wohnung komplett :)
And then the weekend came when the brother of Eliane visited us together with a friend to bring the long desired big fridge and some longed stuff from Eliane :) The rest of the pictures were hanged to the walls and Eliane got the rest of her furniture. Finally the appartment was complete :)
Und nun kommt das Geniessen :) Auf ein gutes Zusammenwohnen mit dir Eliane ;)
And now is the time for enjoying :) I am looking forward to live with you together Eliane ;)
