Opry Mills Nashville

Heute ist nur mein Shoppingtag in Nashville :) Ich will für ein paar Stunden in das grosse Outlet Center im Osten der Stadt fahren und dann wieder nach Hause und etwas ausruhen.

Today is my shopping day in Nashville :) Just for a few hours I want to drive to the big outlet center in the east of the city and then back again to relax.

Früh morgens bringe ich Vanessa mit ihrem Auto zur Arbeit (abholen am Abend tut sie Brett) und nach einem Müslifrühstück mache ich mich auf den Weg zu Opry Mills. Vanessa's Wegbeschreibung war perfekt und ich fand es auch sofort ohne mich zu verfahren :) Im Shopping Center hatte ich keine Kamera dabei. Deswegen wird es hiervon keine Fotos geben. Ich kann nur sagen, dass ich ein paar kleinere Sachen gekauft habe für mich, aber auch als Mitbringsel für diverse Freunde :) Ich war von der Grösse des Shopping Centers beeindruckt. Es war wirklich riesig und selbst das grosse Tanger Outlet bei Atlanta kam mir jetzt unbedeutend klein vor :D In der Mitte gab es hier einen grossen Food Court, Futter ohne Ende.... ich hatte die Qual der Wahl, habe mich dann aber zum Lunch für etwas mexikanisches entschieden :D Und zum Nachtisch noch ein grosses Eis! Am Nachmittag fuhr ich dann zurück zu Vanessas Haus und hab noch etwas auf der Couch relaxed, eh die beiden von der Arbeit kamen.

Early in the morning with her car I brought Vanessa to her work (Brett will pick her up again) and after a breakfast with cereals I drove to Opry Mills. Vanessa's description of the way was perfect, so I could find it directly without loosing my way :) I didn't have my camera with me toda, that's why there won't be pictures of it. I just can say that I bought some small stuff for me but also some small presents for friends :) I was impressed of the size of this outlet. It was really huge and even the big Tanger Outlet near Atlanta seems to be insignificant small for me now :D In the middle there was a big food court, food without end .... I was spoilt for choice, at the end I have choosen some mexican food for lunch :D And afterwards as desert I ate a big ice! in the afternoon I drove back to Vanessa's home and relaxed on the sofa before they were coming home from work.

Heute Abend waren wir im berühmtesten Saloon von Nashville, dem Wild Horse Saloon: lecker Essen, Country Live Musik und Line Dance :) Mehr brauchte es nicht! Es war total lustig und nun kann ich endlich auch sagen, dass ich mal Line Dance probiert habe :D 

Tonight we have been in the most famous saloon of Nashville, the Wild Horse Saloon: delicious food, country live music and line dance :) What do we need more? It was funny and now I also can say finally that I tried line dance :D

Die Entdeckung von Nashville

The exploration of Nashville

Der heutige Tag stand ganz im Zeichen der Entdeckung Nashvilles :) Ich wollte mir soviel wie möglich anschauen und hatte das Tagesziel, einen echten Stetson Cowboyhut sowie Cowboystiefel zu kaufen :) Naja, zumindest wollte ich mal danach schauen :D

Vanessa hat für jeden von uns ein kleines Lunchpaket gepackt...voll lieb! Also nicht nur für sich und ihren Mann, weil die beiden ja heute arbeiten müssen, sondern auch für mich... mit einem belegten Bagel, Joghurt, einer Flasche Wasser und Apfelstücken zum knabbern :)

Today is the day where I want to explore Nashville :)  I want to see so much and my goal for the day is to find a real Stetson cowboy hat and cowboy boots :) At least I want to look after these things :D

Vanessa prepared packed lunches for all of us ... so nice! But not just for herself and her husband, because they have to work today, but also for me .... with a bagel, yoghurt, a bottle of water and apple pieces to nosh :)

Gegen 9 Uhr morgens machte ich mich auf den Weg Richtung Innenstadt von Nashville. Der Weg war lang.... 6,3 km um genau zu sein, von Vanessas Haustür bis zum Visitor Center. Aber ich hatte ja Zeit und wollte mir unterwegs ja auch noch das ein oder andere anschauen :)

Und das habe ich dann auch getan. Ich kam erst am Centennial Park vorbei, in dem sich das Parthenon befindet, einem Nachbau der griechischen Akropolis. In dem Park war es generell sehr schön. Deswegen blieb ich da auch noch eine Weile, habe den herumspringenden Eichhörnchen zugeschaut und das schöne Wetter genossen :) Danach bin ich die West End Avenue Richtung Zentrum gelaufen, vorbei an der Vanderbilt Universität, mehreren Kirchen, dem Bahnhof und sogar der Arena, vor dem sich direkt das Visitor Center befindet. Irgendwann ging die West End Avenue auch in den Boradway über :) Aber erst hier ab dem Visitor Center wird der Broadway so richtig interessant. Ab hier gibt es Saloons, Clubs mit Live Musik, Geschäfte, Museen.... das volle Programm :) in den Nebenstrassen noch mehr Museen, das State Capitol und Memorials. Ich bin einfach alles einmal abgelaufen, das Stückchen Broadway sogar mehrmals :D Ich war in fast jedem Geschäft drinnen! Zwischendurch gegen mittag habe ich mich an die Riverfront des Tennessee Rivers gesetzt und das Lunchpaket verzehrt. Nebenbei schrieb ich ein paar Postkarten an Freunde und Familie :) Es war schön und ich genoss ein paar Minuten die ruhige Umgebung. Am Nachmittag bin ich noch zu Mike's Ice Cream :) Das war vielleicht lecker :D Und 'jubel' ich fand sogar noch ein paar Stiefel und einen echten Stetson Hut :) Ich war jetzt zwar müde, hatte wund gelaufene Füsse, aber ich war glücklich und machte mich auf den Weg in die Hermitage Avenue ins Crema Cafe, wo mich Vanessa nach ihrer Arbeit abholen wollte :) Dort gabs noch einen Caffe Latte und ich konnte meine Füsse etwas erholen :D

Around 9 o'clock in the morning I started to walk to the center of Nashville. The way is long ....3.9 miles precisely, from the door of Vanessa's house to the Visitor Center. But I had time and I wanted to see some things on the way too :)

And that's what i did. First I passed the Centennial Park, in which the Parthenon is, a reproduction of the greek Akropolis. The park was very beautiful. Because of that I stayed a bit, looked after the springing suirrels and enjoyed the weather :) Afterwards I walked along the West End Avenue to the inner city, along the Vanderbilt University, several churches, the Union Station and even the Arena, in the front of it there is the Visitor Center. Somewhere before the West End Avenue was going over into the Broadway :) But from here the Broadway is getting interesting. From here there are saloons, clubs with live music, shops, museums ... the full program :) and in the side roads more museums, the State Capitol and memorials. Ich passed everything, the little piece of the Broadway I even walked several times :d I have been in almost every shop! In between around lunch time I was sitting at the riverfront of the Tennesseeriver and I ate my packed lunch. In the meantime I wrote postcards to friends and family :) It was nice and I enjoyed a few minutes in the silent area. In the afternoon I went to Mike's ice cream :) It was delicious :D And 'joy' I even found a pair of boots and a Stetson hat :) I was tired, blistered feet but I was happy and walked to Hermitage Avenue to the Crema Cafe, from where Vanessa wanted to pick me up after work :) There I had a Caffe latte and my feet could recover a bit :D

Vanessa kam dann auch früher als erwartet und wir fuhren zu ihr nach Hause. Heute abend wollte sie etwas leckeres kochen für uns. Ausserdem kam American Football im Fernsehen, was wir zusammen geschaut haben :D Das war ein toller Tag und ich habe viel gesehen! Morgen wird etwas ruhiger! Ich bekomme Vanessa ihr Auto und werde mal im Opry Mills Outlet Center vorbei schauen und etwas shoppen gehen :)

Vanessa arrived earlier than I expected and we drove back to her home. Tonight she wanted to cook somehting for us. Besides there is american footbal on TV what we want to see together :D It was a great day and I have seen a lot! Tomorrow will be a bit more relaxed! i will get the car of Vanessa and I will drive to Opry Mills Outlet for shopping :)

Heute müssen wir die Berge leider schon wieder verlassen.... aber vorher gibt es nach dem Ausschlafen noch ein gemütliches Waffelfrühstück auf der Terrasse der Blockhütte. Da wir bisher keine Bären gesichtet haben, wäre jetzt nochmal ein guter Zeitpunkt, um nach ihnen Ausschau zu halten :)

Unfortunately today we have to leave the mountains .... but before, after sleeping very long, we take a relaxing breakfast with waffles on the terrace of the cabin. We didn't see bears yet so it would be a perfect occasion to look for them. :)

Und während des leckeren Frühstücks hören wir auch ein lautes Knacken und Rascheln..... Wir schauen uns um, können aber leider nichts entdecken... Ist wohl doch nur ein Ast irgendwo runter gefallen...tja....

And during the delicious breakfast we heard a loud cracking and rustling..... we were looking around, but unfortunately we couldn't see anything ..... maybe it was just a falling branch ... well ....

Dann mussten wir uns von Allie und Matt verabschieden. Sie brachen kurz vor uns auf. Ihr zwei seid total liebe Menschen und ich fands toll, euch kennen gelernt zu haben! ;)
Wir packten alles ins Auto und dann gings los. Auf dem Weg kamen wir durch Pigeon Forge, einem kleinen Las vegas in Tennessee :D Da gibts wirklich komische Gebäude, eins steht auf dem Kopf, und man kann sogar King Kong entdecken :D I denke, dieser Platz ist sogar schlimmer als Las Vegas :D

Then we needed to say goodbuy to Allie and Matt. They were leaving a short time before us. You are great people and it was a pleisure to meet you guys! ;)
We put everything in the car and started driving back. On the way we passed Pigeon Forge, a small Las Vegas in Tennessee :D There are really strange buildings, one of them is upside down, and you can even discover King Kong :D I think this place is even worse than Las Vegas :D

Und wieder stoppten wir bei der Eiscreme von  Maggie Moos. Wir konnten einfach nicht vorbei fahren ;) Irgendwann am zeitigen Nachmittag stoppten wir fürs Mittagessen an einem Picknickgelände. Dort waren eine Menge Leute, die am See picknickten und wir gesellten uns dazu. Es war wunderschönes Wetter, nicht zu heiss, aber auch nicht zu kalt und wir spazierten ein bisschen :) Es war sehr nett dort!

And again we stopped at Maggie Moos ice cream. We couldn't pass ;) Somewhere in the early afternoon we stopped for lunch at a picnic area. There were a lot of people picnicing at a lake and we joined. It was beautiful weather, not to hot but also not to cold and we walked a bit :) It was very nice there!
